~TEMPEST News! January 21, 2010~

We just finished mixing and mastering our new CD!
'Another Dawn' will be released by Magna Carta Records in time for St. Patrick's Day, 2010. This is our first studio album of new material in four years, and boy was it worth the wait!

There’s even a single from the upcoming album, Let's Live For Today / Beaumont Rag, and it’s now available for download at Amazon and iTunes! And in a few weeks there will be a very special, limited edition, colored vinyl, 45 RPM single available at our shows as well, so dust off your turntables!

Available Now:"Let's Live For Today" Get It Now!- iTunes & Amazon

When a band covers a classic song, they’d better make damn sure to do it justice. Tempest’s gripping remake of The Grass Roots’ 1960’s classic anthem, “Let’s Live For Today”, does just that while urging us to make a difference in the here and now.

Tempest’s rousing rendition of “Let’s Live For Today” couldn’t have come at a better time. Amid global and domestic concerns, “Let’s Live For Today” is extraordinary music for extraordinary times. Vocalist Lief Sorbye’s evocative, slightly accented (he’s from Norway) delivery recalls perfectly all the mixed emotions and complexities of the original while capturing the uncertainty and joys of our modern and turbulent world.

Over many decades, “Let’s Live For Today” has meant so much to so many people, in peacetime and war, and the urgency in Tempest’s version courses with meaning while leaving us with a life-affirming message.

Produced by multi-instrumentalist/studio stalwart Robert Berry, “Let’s Live For Today” – yet another timeless musical entry in Tempest’s extensive catalog -- fuses Celtic, hard rock and roots influences. The track is a beautiful mix of flute, mandolin, violin, slamming drums, acoustic and electric guitars. These elements have always been the basis of Tempest’s sound.

Tempest is a band with more than 20 years on the road, and the desire to bring their musical tradition to as many people as possible. Tempest is a band with something meaningful to say and the ability to say it while still being very entertaining.

“Let’s Live For Today” is a track that deserves your full attention.

~TEMPEST News! November 25, 2009~

As 2009 draws to an end, and the Holiday Season is just around the corner, Tempest settles in at Soundtek studios once again. We are recording a great new album with our fabulously talented producer, Robert Berry. At this point we are two weeks into the project, and the tracks are really starting to sparkle! Release date of this one, again on Magna Carta Records, is set for March 16, 2010.

Please note that Tempest was not invited to Sonora Celtic Faire for 2010 -- so instead, we'll be headlining the Dublin St. Patrick's Day Festival, in Dublin, California. This is a fabulous event for the whole family, and our Bay Area fans don't have to travel as far to see us. And for our Sonora fans we are going to do a very special show at The Black Oak Casino. See our tour Schedule for more details.

A good number of you have asked about our own festival, and we must regretfully announce that there will be no Karfluki Fest in 2010. Due to the current financial climate we have decided to put our event on hold for the time being. We hope to return with a rollicking Karfluki Fest again in the not too distant future.

If you plan to give Tempest CDs to your friends and family this Christmas, we encourage you to get your orders in ASAP. We can guarantee that you may have them before the holidays, as long as we receive your order on or before Dec. 10th. www.tempestmusic.com/html/cdorder.html

Tempest's business office will be closed for the holidays, from Dec. 14th to Dec. 28th.

Thank you for your support throughout the year, and we wish you and yours a very merry, warm, cozy, safe and peaceful Holiday Season!

Cheers,

-Tempest

~TEMPEST News! April 14, 2009~

We encourage you to get advance tickets, as some of the venues expect to sell out quickly!

We look forward to seeing you on the road!

Peace & Love,

~TEMPEST News! April 21, 2006~

Dear Friends,
Lief from Tempest here. I am writing to you from our home in Oakland, California, on a sunny April afternoon. We are back from a fantastic coast to coast Spring Tour, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all personally for coming out to the shows and picking up the new CD. The response to 'The Double-Cross' has been tremendous, and it's a gas to play the tunes live...

Now we are taking 'a brief moment's respite' before KARFLUKI FEST, our first annual festival -- to be held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, CA on Saturday, May 6th. This is truly a dream come true for Tempest. Staging our own event allows us to design an expanded show around our musical history and perform for you with an extended line-up... We can't wait!

At KARFLUKI FEST we'll also present some other fab acts we know you'll enjoy.
'It's A Beautiful Day' is best known for their hit 'White Bird', but they were also one of the first rock bands ever to be fronted by a fiddle player. Many of you will know Shana Morrison, daughter of Van Morrison, for her work with 'Caledonia', but at our festival she'll be performing in an acoustic trio, showcasing tunes from her upcoming CD.

'Slim Bawb & Gator Bait' is a new 'swampgrass' group from the Sacramento area. The band members also play with 'The Beer Dawgs' and 'Mumbo Gumbo'. 'Wicked Tinkers' will not need an introduction to Tempest Fans. You all know the tremendous energy that takes place when they join us with their pipes, drums and didgeridoo... and this time we're planning a few extra surprises!

We have also added 'Sierra Spiral Dancers', the very entertaining physical comedian Jeffrey Weissman, and a fire performance troupe to the program. And we'll have Ric O'Shea's juggling school ready for the children. (Remember kids under 12 are free with guardian.)

We do recommend that you bring some warm clothes along for the evening shows and you're welcome to carry your own lawn chairs if you like. There will be a variety of great food, beer and other refreshments and we're delighted with the wonderful array of vendors that will help to kick off this first year. A band merchandising area will also be available, and you will get a chance to meet all the artists in person!

For those of you traveling from far away, in need of lodging we have set up a link to help at: http://www.karflukifest.com/lodging.htm
We suggest that you book your rooms now, since availability is limited.

Don't forget you can still get THE KARFLUKI FEST ARTIST SAMPLER CD if you book advance tickets online. The tickets are $25, and the artist sampler CD is free. Please note, this offer will only be good until May first. http://www.karflukifest.com/advance_cd.htm

We are extremely proud and happy to announce Karfluki Fest 2006, and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Cheers and all the best,

Lief Sorbye
