Going Home - 2022

Going Home - 2022

Tempest is busting out of two years' pandemic-enforced hiatus from touring with one their most powerful album of new material in years. 'Going Home' also launches the band's new record label, 'Celtodelic,' and is co-produced by Robert Berry and band leader Lief Sorbye. The recordings took place at SoundTek Studios in Campbell, California during November and December of 2021. The new album can perhaps best be described as Euro Celtic, as Tempest branches out to incorporate more Scandinavian and British Isles material into their brand of Progressive Folk Rock.

The Tracks We Leave - 2015

New original and traditional songs! Tempest's first studio album in five years draws upon Celtic, Scandinavian and other folk traditions from around the globe, in what may be the band's most exciting work to date. Inspired by a Dakota Sioux proverb: "We will be known forever by the tracks we leave," a reference to the environmental, spiritual and musical tracks we leave upon the world we live in.

The 10th Anniversary album cover

The 10th Anniversary Compilation - 1998

"Celebrating ten years of making music, Tempest has moved into the forefront of the Celtic rock genre. Far from the typical retrospective, The 10th Anniversary Compilation is not a collection of soundbites from a decade of work, these tunes are newly re-recorded and brought into the current hard rocking maturity the band has developed over the years.
Each tune from the first to the last is a genuine hit from their impressive career. This collection is not only the best that Tempest has produced, it is one of the top Celtic rock recordings ever."

"Several of the original compositions on this album by Oakland based Celtic rockers Tempest sound just as weathered as the three traditional songs included - a sure sign that the band is on the right track..."

Magna Carta 1996
"Tempest performs a folk-rock version of "Locomotive Breath" as well as having their lead singer, Lief Sorbye, record a version of "Mother Goose" with guitar-aficionado Mike Varney playing lead guitar."

Tracks performed by members of Tempest:
5.) Mother Goose (Peformed by Lief Sorbye)
I’ve always liked this song, it has the innocence and childlike quality of a fairy tale, but told to the tellers of fairy tales. It seems to warn these tellers not to lose the moral in the florid details of the tale itself. The melody is Celtic in style and I have given it a distinct folk-rock feel. - Lief

6.) Minstrel in the Gallery (Performed by Robert Berry, Lief Sorbye on Bodhran)

13.) Locomotive Breath (Performed by Tempest with special Guest Robert Berry on Keyboards)
This is a favorite of our audiences, which came into our repertoire by accident. Early in our band’s history an audience member requested it as an encore. We began to jam on it, and it was received with screams of delight and mad dancing. Need we say more?
